Discover the only six paints I use to unlock the world of botanical colour
Imagine being able to paint everything from the palest pink petals to the deepest, richest shadows without wondering whether you have the right colours.
In this free guide, I'll introduce you to my six favourite paints, explain how each behaves, and share why each has earned its place in my palette.
Join 6000+ artists who receive my Artist’s Journal, with behind-the-scenes updates, painting tips, and ideas to support your creative practice when you download the guide to my limited palette.
Hello and welcome…
I'm Helen, a botanical watercolour artist and teacher.
I help artists of all levels master botanical illustration techniques through my Membership, online courses, and workshops.
My original artwork, prints, and stationery bring the beauty of nature into your home.
When I'm not creating at my art desk, you'll probably find me sketching by the sea in my camper van, Skye, drinking decaf tea with oat milk, and gathering inspiration for my next botanical watercolour piece.
Observe and Paint a Tulip Like a Botanical Artist
The Botanical Essentials is a three-part course that teaches aspiring botanical artists how to control watercolour, understand and mix colour, and illustrate a botanical subject.
You’ll walk away with a painted tulip petal, your own colour charts and a finished painting of a tulip.
“Helen is so lovely and will guide you through the process, and I promise you will surprise yourself with what you are able to create.”
- Jess, United Kingdom
“I used to be a self-taught artist but this experience has helped me go beyond just experimenting. I’m learning real technique and I look forward to every painting.”
- Priyanka, India
“The way she teaches brings calm to my mind, which shows in my painting.”
- Annick, Belgium
